My Approach

Therapy is collaborative…

Starting therapy can be compared to going to physical therapy. Imagine you’ve injured your knee—when you see a physical therapist, they listen to your concerns, assess what’s going on, and then create a plan that’s tailored to your unique needs. They guide you through the plan and the new exercises, encourage you when it feels difficult, and help you understand what’s happening in your body. But what makes healing possible, is being a part of a team…where both people are present, active, and engaged. The effort you put in—the stretching, the strengthening, the practicing in and outside of appointments—this is how progress is made and where healing occurs.

Therapy works in a very similar way. As your therapist, I’ll help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, teach you tools and strategies, and walk alongside you with support and encouragement. But, transformation happens as you engage in the process—by reflecting, practicing new skills, and applying what we discuss to your daily life. It’s your courage and commitment that creates lasting change, but if you show up, you won’t ever be alone. Right alongside you, my role is to guide, support, and empower as you do the meaningful work of healing.

An empathetic space

As a therapist, I strive to create a compassionate, respectful space where you feel heard, seen, and understood. Your story matters. I believe healing begins when who you are is genuinely known and accepted, not just assessed or analyzed. To me, you’re more than a diagnosis or set of symptoms, and I consider it a deep privilege to walk with my clients through the work of healing and offer a space where they can feel safe.

Clients often come to me when they sense something in their life needs to shift—they want healing, growth, and resolution that lasts. Sometimes it’s feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety or low mood, while other times it may be persistent self-criticism, unhelpful past experiences, or stressful relational patterns that leave them feeling overwhelmed or disconnected. Together, we won’t just focus on “what’s wrong,” but on creating a clear, personalized path forward—one that honors your growth, healing, and capacity for change.

One of the brain’s core jobs is survival, which means it’s always scanning for anything that feels threatening. When something seems “off,” your brain sends out protective signals—these signals can be triggered by what’s happening in the present moment or by past experiences. When this happens, your brain is saying, “something here needs attention.” These signals often show up as anxiety, overwhelm, irritability, hopelessness, low motivation, low self-esteem, heightened emotions, or perfectionism. Even though your brain is trying to protect you, its safety strategies can leave you feeling anxious, depressed, dysregulated, or stuck in stressful relational patterns.

I focus on understanding you and your story, while being attentive to what your brain has learned to perceive as a threat. Once we identify what feels unsafe to your nervous system, we gain a clearer picture of why those reactions show up. From there, we’re more equipped to collaboratively create meaningful, lasting change. In our work together, we gently explore those patterns with compassion and curiosity, while working to shift your nervous system out of survival mode and into a state of safety. My goal is not only to help you feel better in the present, but to help you better understand yourself, your patterns, and your brain, so that you feel equipped and confident in the future, too.
